Craftin Burn Out

Every so often, I hit a major crafting wall. All of the sudden my brain is empty of creativity, and I can't force my hands to do what I want them to.

This has happened to me recently with my wire work. All of the sudden, the thought of weaving any wire is daunting, and my stones just aren't calling to me. I can't seem to get the energy together to even think about doing a craft show.

Perhaps it's the urge to enjoy the last few lazy days of summer that keeps me from putting my nose to the creative grindstone. Perhaps I'm just lazy. Who knows.

In the meantime, I've been knitting some winter hats, just to keep my hands busy, and my craftiness flowing, even if it's minimally. What do you do to help get yourself over a crafting roadblock?

I have a peach bellini! ;D

Seriously, doing something else always helps. Sometimes a shopping trip to my favorite bead shop to see what's new can get the juices flowing.

It happens! It really is best not to force it, and once in a while it's nice to take a break from your art and come back refreshed and eager to get into it.
Take care.

I think that taking a break and waiting for it to "call" to you again is a good idea, otherwise it begins to feel like work instead of a creative outlet. I also like Hilary's idea of having a peach bellini, or even two;-)

Take care!

I don't force it & try to do something brainless...

I write and I get writers block
I digitally scrap and I get scrappers block
I x stitch and get stitchers block
I do altered art and get artist block
I have even found I can get bloggers blog...
so I just switch around between them all and if I am really blocked up I just eat chocolate and hang out with my kids.

I went through this recently too-with my polymer claying. A good friend in my clay group really helped me get my "mojo" back on by asking me how she could help me with my Etsy shop! That concern really touched me and it got me going again, just knowing someone was concerned enough to offer helpful input and advice, which she's doing.
Sometimes, just to do ANY crafting is good when your mojo takes a break, or to have a friend offer advice or a fresh perspective can help too, I think. At least you're trying by knitting! I'm sure it will be back soon enough, for Christmas anyway!!! Good luck,
Pam

Maybe there are other factors at work.. if u are depressed or sad, it could affect your creativity... I have found that visiting an art gallery or reading a good book can help
